Issue A user may want to use a software program to communicate to a PowerLogic or ION meter when ethernet is not an option. Product Line ION and PowerLogic meters. Environment ION Setup, Modbus Tester, DLF-3000 Cause Many meters do not have ethernet as an option, or the ethernet option was not ordered, or the ethernet port is in use and cannot be disturbed. Resolution The commonly recommended USB-to-RS485 converter is the USOPTL4 by B&B Electronics. It works well with ION and PowerLogic products that have a 2 wire or 4 wire RS485 port. It works well with ION and PowerLogic products that have either a DB9 serial port or dedicated terminals for for RS232..
